Kendriya Vidyalaya, NIT Agartala is one of the Kendriya Vidyalayas run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi under the project mode (Higher Learning Institute) which is fully financed by National Institute of Technology, Agartala. It was started in Session 2010-11. Presently, it is running in the campus of NIT Agartala in the permanent school building provided by the sponsoring authorities of NIT Agartala. The Vidyalaya is fully equipped with all necessary modern physical and scientific devices like LCD Projectors, audio & visual aids and all essential infrastructural developments which play a vital role in educating the children and making education a fun to learn. The Vidyalaya has the strength of 420 students with 01 section in each class from classes I to XII and 22 teachers, well trained, experienced, dedicated and capable of fulfilling the demands of the growing modern generation of students.
The vidyalaya is equipped with a well organised library which is situated at 1st floor of the school building. Firstly let’s talk about the print resources. There are near about 2700 books we have, which include NCERT Text Books, Reference Books, Subject References, Fictions, Non- Fictions, Class Library Books, Books written on or by the eminent personalities of our country and the world. We have a special section for Class Library Books which is for the primary section only. Library also provides the services of newspaper and magazines. There are four newspapers we have, which covers national and regional happenings. In the magazine section we have India Today (Hindi and English), Competition Affairs, Shiksha Uthan, Biology Today, Mathematics Today, Physics Today, Chemistry Tody, Magic Pot, Wisdom, Yojona etc. Our library also has a special section called ‘Pedagogy’ which is meant for the faculty members. Its only purpose is to assist the faculties in teaching learning process. There is also separate place for displaying the newly added books which is called ‘New Arrivals’. Primary wing of the vidyalaya also consist of a huge number of readers. For meeting the needs of our tiny tots the class libraries were setup which comes under the control of the respective class teachers who are also playing a major role in managing the library system. Library blog, Reading Corner are the another form of library services. Current happenings of the library and the current information are shared on the library blog. Readers Club is also formed to motivate the members and as well as the other students to take part in library activities positively.
